Ailuk Airport – AIM Ailuk
Ailuk Airport is found in the atoll of Ailuk, Marshall Islands. Ailuk is composed of 57 islets located in the Pacific Ocean. It is one of the major islands in the region. This public airstrip is being used by major air carriers like Qantas, Air France, and British Airways. Majority of passengers are leisure travelers who love to see the beauty of this top destination. There is a move to conserve hundreds of acres for 10 years because it is a breeding ground of island turtles. Part of the project is to convert the whole airport with airport code AIM terminal and guest lodge to use solar power.
Best Time to Visit
Ailuk Airport was established after World War II. The coral surfaced airstrip is found the eastern portion of the Atoll. The airport terminal is composed of a single floor structures or these are called small hangars. The runway and current terminal was built in the 70’s. It is still in the process of getting a modern touch. In fact travelers will need to use the stairs to exit their plane and walk to the terminal.
