The airport is also called as Connellan Airport, after the founder of Connellan Airways, Edward Connellan. It primarily serves the town of Yulara, which is almost 500 kilometers away from the city of Alice Springs. Ayers Rock Airport is assigned the IATA code of AYQ and ICAO code of YAYE.
