Syamsudin Noor Airport – BDJ Airport
Syamsudin Noor International Airport serves Banjarmasin in South Kalimantan, Indonesia. This is an international airport located in Landasan Ulin district, 15.5 miles north from the center of Banjarmasin. As of 2017, the airport was able to serve more than 5.3 million passengers.
Best Time to Visit
The original name for the airport used to Airports Ulin and was managed by the Government of Occupied Japan. In 1948, construction of a runway took place under the Dutch government. From the years 1957 to 1977, a new runway was built which is being used now and can accommodate a DC-9 aircraft. BDJ airport sits on an area of 257 hectares. In 1985, the airport was officially converted to Syamsudin Noor Airport. In 2004, the airport terminal expansion was finished. Further development is being planned as the airport is currently operating at overcapacity. Development and expansion have become slow due to delays in land acquisition, but once completed will be able to accommodate as many as 10 million passengers in a year.
