The Chichen Itza International Airport is an international airport that is located in Chichen Itza, Yucatan, Mexico. It is a public airport that operates under the IATA Code CZA and the ICAO code MMCT. The airport is owned by the Yucatan government and is operated by Grupo CICO. The airport was constructed in 1999 and was not inaugurated in April 12, 2000. It was set to be one of the region’s main airports and was expected to handles passenger from Cancun. The airport started operating with airlines Aeromexico, Mexicana, Aeroczumel, and American Airlines. However, many of the scheduled flights have been stopped, as there is not enough traffic going through the airport. As of 2018, the airport is not operating regularly and is in almost US$1.5 Million in debt. Cities, towns, villages, and suburbs found near the airport include Ekbalam, Piste, Tizimin, and Uayma.
