St. George's, Grenada (GND-Maurice Bishop Intl.)
Maurice Bishop International Airport is an international airport in the island of Grenada. Formerly known as Point Salines Airport, it is situated in the island’s capital, St. George's, Grenada. The airport is about 20 minutes away from the town proper specifically on Point Salines, found in the southern most point of Grenada. The airport code is GND. In 1983, the unfinished airport became the jump-off point when a U.S.-led invasion came about that resulted in the death of its then Prime Minister Maurice Bishop. It opened one year after the grim incident. In 2009, the airport was named after him.

Designed by a Canadian firm, the airport sits elevated at 41 feet above mean sea level. There are two runways while the terminal building features five boarding gates, two departure lounges, and VIP and First Class Facilities. It likewise boasts of a number of shops in the departure lounge and in the public concourse selling duty-free items like liquor, perfume and jewelry. Restaurants, ATMs, currency exchange and car rental shops are also available. Aside from St. George’s, the airport is not very far from beach destination areas namely Grand Anse and Petit Calivigny.
