Kristiansand Airport – KRS Kristiansand

Kristiansand Airport with airport code KRS is an international airport in the city of Kristiansand, Norway. This is city the fifth largest in Norway. Currently, the airport is operated by Avinor, which is state owned. The city also houses the sole airport for Southern Norway. It is currently serving over a million of passengers. The facility is also being used as a training center for Royal Norwegian Air Force. During the early years of KRS, it is only providing domestic services. The location of the airport has forced the airport to receive international routes until 2004.

Best Time to Visit

KRS-Kristiansand airport first started as a water aerodrome and this was built by the Royal Norwegian Navy Air Service. Originally, the airport was a 130 ft concrete runaway and it was connected by 12m taxiway. There is a terminal building made from wood and a wooden house for its restaurant. Aside from airplanes, the airport also served Seaplanes. The present airport was opened in 1939. This is the same day as Oslo Airport. The airplane to land on the runway is from KLM. The first international flight from Oslo to Amsterdam is through the airport. Cities surrounding the airport include Arendal and Faervik.
