Limón International Airport - LIO Limon
The Limon International Airport in Limon, Costa Rica is a public airport that has an IATA code of LIO. It is owned and operated by the Direccion General de Aviacion Civil, and is one of the country’s four international airports. The LIO Limon airport is Costa Rica’s primary air hub for getting into the Caribbean islands. It was closed for nearly two decades, and was only reopened in 2006. Near the airport are the communities of Hone Creek and Bri Bri, as well as the Caribbean islands of Manzanillo, Puerto Viejo, and Cahuita.

The Limon International Airport is served by Sansa Airlines, which has 4 flights per week. Flights bring travelers to Tortuguero and San Jose-Juan Santa Maria. The airport features a 1,800-meter asphalt runway. It can function as an international airport, but the most recent flights are mostly domestic, and usually connect to the larger Juan Santa Maria International Airport in San Jose. Within a 2-hour drive via taxi or shuttle service are the cities of Puerto Viejo and Punta Uva.
