Trinidad: A Unique UNESCO World Heritage Site Vacation Destination
The charming town of Trinidad, Cuba is a part of the Sancti Spiritus Province. In 1988, Together with neighboring Valle de los Ingenios, Trinidad was registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It sits at an elevation of 260 feet above mean sea level and it covers a total land area of 446 square miles. Trinidad has had a long history. It was founded in 1514 and was originally named Villa de la Santisima Trinidad. You can easily access the town via the Alberto Delgado Airport, located 2 miles from the town center. Another airport option is the Jaime Gonzalez Airport (CFG), found in Cienfuegos.
Best Time to Visit
For dry, sunny days and warm, but not too hot temperatures, plan your visit to Trinidad from December to May. June starts the local wet season and if you want to avoid hurricanes, do not go in either August or October. The Trinidad Carnival is held yearly in June. There are also a number of religious celebrations in the area, including the Trinidad Cross Procession, which is held during the Holy Week.
