Kuressaare Airport – URE
Situated 1.5 nautical miles from the city of Kuressaare, Estonia, Kuressaare Airport is a public-use airfield operated by KuressaareLennujaam. The airport not only handles passenger traffic from the city but also serves as the main entryway via air to the island of Saaremaa, where the town of Kuressaare is located. Kuressaare Airport is assigned the IATA code URE and ICAO code EEKE.
Best Time to Visit
The airport’s runway, numbered as 17/35 and has a length of 2,000 meters,was constructed in the latter part of the 1930s before the airport was officially opened to the public in March 1945. In 1962,a new passenger terminal was constructed, and several years later, a second runway was built in the airfield. Kuressaare Airport handled a total of 19,231 passengers in 2017 alone, most of which are served by the Transaviabaltika Airlines, whose only route is to Tallinn.
